Ben Seton
Stars solo in TAE KWON SHAKESPEARE Over the years, Shakespeare has been presented in any number of ways, but never so quirkily or originally as when the martial east meets the artistic west. Think Tom Cruise. Think Keanu Reeves. Think Bruce Lee. Put them together in one electric performer and you’re thinking Ben Seton, one of Australia’s most exciting young actors and a unique talent about to be a major TV and movie superstar. TAE KWON SHAKESPEARE sees Ben interpreting – and ‘interpret’ takes on a muscular new meaning in this context – Hamlet, Romeo, Shylock, Henry V, Autolycus, Coriolanus, Prospero, and, not surprisingly, Puck. Throw in for good measure martial art summaries of the whole Shakespearean canon and you’re about halfway towards describing this bizarre and stimulating Shakespearean discovery trip. A second Dan Blackbelt in Tae Kwon Do, Ben is also a South Pacific Champion and an international TKD competitor. As well, he won the Australian Shakespeare Globe Competition and has trodden the boards of the New Globe Theatre in London. Ben recently appeared at Fox Studios in Barrie Kosky’s Lights Camera Chaos and is featured in the new major American TV series, Beastmaster in episode #207 titled "Rage". With this unique background, Ben presents Shakespeare as coolly and as punchily as the Bard comes. It’s off the wall – literally! |
